Each member of a project team was responsible for building a virtual replica of a part of an assigned toy. A team captain was responsible for coordinating the group's efforts, providing support when I was involved with other students, and assembling the parts in a master model.
The resulting assets were used to produce the photo-realistic renderings and 3D printed models that are displayed here.
The project teams did an outstanding job of achieving a level of detail that made their renderings indistinguishable from high quality photographs of the originals. They also slashed fabrication costs by making the models hollow with a thin shell.
The second project was particularly interesting because the students really pushed the envelope of what they could print. The fingers are a half-millimeter thick!
