Platform: Rhino // MakerBot
Each member of a project team was responsible for building a virtual replica of a part of an assigned toy. A team captain was responsible for coordinating the group's efforts, providing support when I was involved with other students, and assembling the parts in a master model.
These may be toys, but there is nothing childish about their surface geometry. If someone can model one of these, I’m not so sure that there is very much out there that they can’t model.
We experimented with using the MakerBot to produce 3D printed replicas of the toys. The image of the last 3D printed model shows the support structures that the MakerBot needs to build as it fabricates the model.
